Some have asked the very important
question about what our logo represents.
The answer is foundational to the way we practice and the way we
live. To us it represents the Cross of
Life and the Cross of Dentistry. Read on to learn more!
These concepts have roots initially
from Aristole and were evolved by one of the pioneers of modern dentistry Dr.
L.D Pankey. The cross of life
exemplifies balance in life. We believe
to find fulfillment and to reach your full potential we must find our
individual balance in our work lives, our love, our passions and joys, and our
faith. This is represented by the Work,
Play, Love, Worship segments of our Cross.
The importance of these parts of
life are explained in the book “The Exeptional Dental Practice” by Dr. Lockard.
Work is found in something that we
can put our creative efforts in to serve a greater good and find pride in our endeavors. Dr. Pankey said “To realize our greatest
potential, we must serve our patients.” Play
balances work by allowing time for rest and renewal of our mind,
body and spirit. We can do this through
athletics, enjoying nature, art, music, and literature. Love is the most important resource in the lives of people along
with being the most irresistible force on earth. We must learn to love ourselves then we can
share that love with those around us. The greatest human longing is to be loved. Lastly, worship is the source of our strength, faith and our creative
power. This faith gives us direction and
a basis for commitment, self-discipline and work ethic that is indispensable in
our lives.
This symbolism also relates to our
dental practice with the Cross of Dentistry.
In the Cross of Dentistry these segments are represented by Knowing
Yourself, Knowing the Patient, Knowing Your Skills, and Applying Your Knowledge.
Look for a future blog about these
important cornerstones that guide us in our practice.
